Emergency Preparedness and Responce
In accordance with the Law of the RA on Safe Utilization of Atomic Energy for Peaceful Purposes ANRA is responsible for making recommendations during emergency preparedness and response.
ANRA through its Emergency Response Center:
✓ Assesses any emergency situation arising from nuclear energy utilization and, within the established structure, submits information to the state authorities and entities involved in the national emergency response system, makes prognosis on changes in any radiation situation in case of nuclear and/or radiation emergency or its imminent threat,
✓ Gives recommendations on necessary protective actions for personnel and population protection to the state authorities and entities involved in the national emergency response system, based on situational assessment and prognosis of possible change in a radiation situation in case of nuclear and/or radiation emergency or its imminent threat,
✓ Provides state authorities, entities, mass media, and the general public with information on any radiation situation at any facility where an emergency has occurred and its adjacent territories,
✓ Makes early international notification in accordance with the provisions of Convention on Early Notification about Nuclear Accident, in case of nuclear and radiation emergency occurring in the RA or its imminent threat,
✓ Receives information on possible or occurring nuclear and radiation emergencies outside the RA which may affect the territory of the RA and requires organization of population protection in the RA.
