Regional Workshop on Experiences Related to Applications of Level 2 and Level 3 of Probabilistic Safety Assessments (PSAs) took place in Yerevan from 10 to 14 July 2023 under the IAEA TC regional project RER9160 “Strengthening Capabilities on Safety Assessment and Risk Informed Decision Making for Severe Accidents and Off Site Consequences”. The regional workshop was organized by the Armenian Nuclear Regulatory Authority (ANRA) jointly with the IAEA.
The workshop was attended by the representatives of the regulatory authorities, NPPs and scientific and research organizations from, Bulgaria, Belarus, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Russian Federation, Uzbekistan and Armenia and the IAEA invited experts. The TC PMO and TO for the IAEA TC RER/9/160 regional project also attended the workshop.
The purpose of the event is to discuss and share information on the state-of-the-art approaches on development and application of Level 2 and Level 3 of Probabilistic Safety Assessments (PSAs). Special emphasis was given to existing experience and best practices in the area and application of results and outcomes of Level 2 and Level 3 PSA studies for Nuclear Power Plants (NPPs).
The workshop participants presented their national experiences in the area of Level 2 and Level 3 PSA applications for various aspects of NPPs designs and operations, such as optimization of design solutions, design modifications, development of severe accident management guidelines and measures, as well as emergency planning. The IAEA TC PMO presented the progress with implementation of the regional project RER/9/160 and further actions.
