Armenian Nuclear Regulatory Authority hosted US Nuclear Regulatory Commission delegation headed by the Commissioner David Wright on August 5, 2024.
The cooperation between the US NRC and ANRA was discussed during the visit.
Mr. Khachatur Khachikyan, Acting Chairman of ANRA, briefed on ANRA tasks, priorities and challenges. There were also discussed the licensing of operation lifetime extension ANPP Unit №2, implementation of safety upgrades, construction of a new NPP, training and retraining of personnel and other issues.
ANRA cooperates with the US NRC from 1995. The first cooperation arrangement between ANRA and US NRC for the exchange of technical information and cooperation in nuclear safety matters was signed in 1997, which was resigned in 2007, 2017 and 2023.
