Regional Workshop on Management of Radioactive Waste from NPP Focusing on WWER Reactors took place in Yerevan on 15-19 October 2007. The Workshop was organized by International Atomic Energy Agency in cooperation with Armenian Nuclear Regulatory Authority in frame of RER3002 project.
The purpose of the workshop was to discuss and exchange experience and information on waste management practices at NPPs with WWER reactors, with emphasis on most problematic areas. The workshop program consisted of theoretical lectures on waste management technologies provided by lecturers from IAEA and presentations provided by participants, as well as panel discussions of key issues, identified as important in the frame of the workshop subject.
The participants came from Slovakia, Romania, Hungary, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Turkey, Lithuania and also Armenia and presented the waste management practices at their respective countries.
In accordance with the workshop agenda the participants visited Armenian NPP, RADON radioactive waste storage facility.
