The Armenian Nuclear Regulatory Authority (ANRA) hosted a delegation of experts from the European Commission\u2019s ENSREG Board from 24 to 28 November 2025. The purpose of the mission was to assess the progress made in implementing Armenia\u2019s National Stress Test Action Plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In April 2025, the Nuclear Safety Regulatory Committee submitted a regular progress report to EU experts, outlining completed actions and ongoing activities within the framework of the National Action Plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          During the mission, ENSREG experts held working meetings with specialists from the ANRA, Nuclear and Radiation Safety Center (NRSC) and the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant (ANPP). The program included technical visits to the ANPP, where experts reviewed the measures already implemented and examined activities currently underway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ENSREG team commended the Armenian side for its professional preparedness, transparency, and the significant progress achieved to date. At the same time, the experts encouraged accelerated implementation of the remaining measures set out in the National Action Plan\u2014particularly those related to severe accident management\u2014emphasizing that these activities require detailed analysis and substantial human, time, and financial resources. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Armenia joined the EU Stress Test Initiative in 2012, following the Fukushima NPP accident. The initiative aims to evaluate the resilience of nuclear power plant designs against external hazards and to develop targeted measures to further enhance nuclear safety based on identified deviations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
